A Work in Progress
Posted in Work in Progress on 02/10/2009 06:38 pm by adminThe Legend of Sai Rayanna is a work in progress and this weblog is here to track that work, give you news and ideas about its progress and invite your comments and questions.
We think it is an important work because it is the first all-feminine Epic to be published in Telluria. The first tale of high adventure and high history to be set among an all-feminine people. It is a new thing in this world – or rather a thing so old that it seems new.
You have probably already heard the beginning of the work here so you will have an idea of the manner in which an ancient Epic is being cast in the form of a modern novel.
We believe this is the best way of making a story available to the modern mind – and we believe that stories are important. Despite all the claims of “scientific rationalism”, the soul of maid lives by stories.
Girls who are wholly feminine-identified need a Story – a fundamental Story that defines their identity, their nobility, their self-belief. We believe The Legend of Sai Rayanna is that story.
When C.S Lewis wrote the Narnia stories, he said that he wrote them because he was writing the kind of story he always wished to read as a child, but which did not exist.
I think all of us wished, as young fully-feminine-identified girls, that our story had existed.
We are here to make sure that, for the new generation, it will.
